House Votes to Extend Medicare’s Hospital Care at Home Program

The House voted Monday to extend a pandemic-era program that allows Medicare to reimburse for hospital-level care at home.

The Hospital Inpatient Services Modernization Act (H.R. 4313) would extend the Acute Hospital Care at Home initiative through the 2030 fiscal year. The Covid-era program—which is set to expire Jan. 30, 2026—allows Medicare-certified hospitals to offer acute care services such as IV therapy and respiratory care at a patient’s home.
