House Passes Planned Parenthood Funding Ban, Abortion Bill

In a move designed to appease conservatives and avoid a government shutdown, the House Sept. 18 voted on a pair of bills that would defund Planned Parenthood for one year and allow for prosecution of medical professionals who don’t provide aid if a fetus is still alive after an abortion.

The House passed the Defund Planned Parenthood Act (H.R. 3134) by a vote of 241-187.
