Hospital Wins Negligent Credentialing Case at Ohio Top Court

A patient’s father failed to revive a negligent credentialing lawsuit against an Ohio hospital over his daugther’s death, because he didn’t prove the doctor’s underlying medical negligence, a divided state supreme court said.

A doctor’s testimony suggesting that he failed to meet the standard of care when treating a patient doesn’t satisfy this prerequisite for a negligent credentialing claim, the Ohio Supreme Court said. There must be an actual finding of negligence against the doctor, or a stipulation between the parties on that point, it said.
