Hospital Outpatient Pay Proposal Clears White House, Can Publish

A proposed rule setting Medicare rates hospitals would get paid in 2022 for outpatient services has cleared White House review and can be published at any time.

The proposal (RIN 0938-AU43) includes 2022 payment rates at ambulatory surgical care centers that focus on same-day surgeries and diagnostic or preventive services.

The proposed rule will describe any changes to factors used to determine how much Medicare pays, according to an Office of Management and Budget listing. It will also incorporate other policy changes arising from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ experience with the system.
