Planned Parenthood Association of Utah is expanding its attempt to keep abortion legal in the state by asking a judge to block a new law that prohibits the procedures outside of hospitals.
The provision, which also struck abortion clinics from its health-care facility licensing categories, is scheduled to take effect May 3, according to PPAU’s request to supplement a previously filed complaint that challenged Utah’s near-total abortion ban. The provider asked Salt Lake County’s Third Judicial District Court to halt the new law before that date.
