HIMSS, NeHC Announce Merger; New Nonprofits to Promote Health IT

Two major health information technology industry groups, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and the National eHealth Collaborative (NeHC), will merge in 2014, the groups announced Dec. 23.

NeHC now is part of HIMSS, and both organizations are governed by the HIMSS Foundation board of directors and a volunteer advisory committee appointed by the NeHC board of directors.

The two organizations merged because both “embrace a similar mission to engage with all stakeholders to drive positive change in health care with IT and provide a single, mission-drive voice and focus,” HIMSS said in a news release.
