The U.S. Supreme Court Oct. 5 declined to review an appeals court decision that affirmed the dismissal of a False Claims Act lawsuit against retail pharmacy chain Ukrainian Village Pharmacy Inc. (UVP) (United States ex rel. Grenadyor v. Ukrainian Vill. Pharmacy, Inc., U.S., 14-1326, petition denied 10/5/15).
Whistle-blower plaintiff Yury Grenadyor alleged that UVP—which serves primarily a Ukrainian immigrant population in Chicago, as well as locations in Georgia, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio and Massachusetts—and several individuals who controlled pharmacies around the country through co-defendant Global Pharmalife LLC, perpetrated several schemes that defrauded Medicare and Medicaid.
