The Trump administration is looking for companies to develop a diagnostic test that can determine if someone has SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes Covid-19, and the seasonal influenza.
The move is part of a series of changes detailed Thursday in the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority’s broad agency announcement, a contract mechanism through which the agency does most of its spending. BARDA, part of the Department of Health and Human Services, helps develop countermeasures against emerging diseases, and the document signifies the areas in which the agency wants to see research and development proposals.
