Health Tech Companies Face New Patient Data Sharing Rules (1)

Health tech companies will have to create secure, data-sharing channels to help give patients better access to their information under new rules released by the Department of Health and Human Services.

The rules, released Monday by the HHS’s Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, are meant to give patients free access to their health data and prevent providers and health tech vendors from improperly sharing or withholding that information.
