Health and Human Services Inspector General Daniel Levinson submitted his resignation to President Donald Trump April 2 and will leave the health-care watchdog May 31.
Levinson has led the OIG for 15 years and will be replaced on an acting basis by Principal Deputy Inspector General Joanne Chiedi.
The HHS OIG is the largest inspector general office in the federal government and investigates fraud, waste, and abuse in Medicare, Medicaid, and more than 100 other HHS programs.
