HHS Eases Health Privacy Rules for Care Providers, Associates

HHS says it will exercise enforcement discretion and won’t impose penalties for violations of certain provisions of the HIPAA privacy rule, according to statement from agency.

  • Health-care providers won’t be penalized for “good faith uses and disclosures of protected health information” for public health and health oversight during the COVID-19 health emergency
