HHS Drops Appeal of Block on Transgender Health Bias Rule

The Trump administration and over a dozen states agreed to drop a legal battle over Biden-era transgender health-care rulemaking.

The agreement comes in a Biden administration appeal of a nationwide stay on a US Department of Health and Human Services rule interpreting Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act as shielding transgender people from health discrimination. Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the Trump administration’s HHS secretary, said during confirmation hearings he would withdraw an unspecified transgender health-care protections regulation believed to be the 1557 rule.

The HHS didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
