HHS Bolsters Long-Term Care Behavioral Health Services Funding

The HHS on Monday announced a funding opportunity of nearly $15 million for a three-year federal grant to establish a program to strengthen behavioral health-care delivery to nursing homes and residents of long-term care facilities.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration program will be funded with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ civil money penalty funds, according to the Department of Health and Human Services.

Three years of to nearly $5 million a year in funding will be awarded to one grantee in late FY 2022, the HHS said.
