Sean Keveney, the acting general counsel for the US health department, was named Monday as the Food and Drug Administration’s chief counsel.
Keveney most recently served as the acting general counsel for the US Department of Health and Human Services, where he led the legal team in advancing the Trump administration’s priorities, including actions against universities that the department found were discriminatory and violated Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Keveney had previous senior roles in the US Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division and clerked for the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
