Healthy Food May Be Exempt in New Ultra-Processed Definition (1)

The Trump administration is expected to create an exemption in its definition of ultra-processed foods for “healthy” items and for infant formulas, according to people familiar with the matter.

The exemptions would be for foods that meet already established criteria for “healthy” food by the US Food and Drug Administration, according to those people, who were not authorized to speak publicly. The ultra-processed definition is likely to include a list of food additives and artificial colors, they said.
