Health IT Groups Say CMS Should Allow Providers to Seek Meaningful Use Relief

Health information technology vendors and industry associations are calling for federal regulators to expand the conditions under which health-care providers and hospitals can take advantage of proposed relief from Stage 2 of the meaningful use program.

The CMS in May published a proposed rule (CMS-0052-P; RIN 0938-AS30) that would allow providers and hospitals that can’t obtain an EHR system with the latest meaningful use program certification to participate using their existing EHR system (25 MCR 622, 5/23/14).
