Health Insurers Seek Speedy Ruling Against Short-term Plans Rule

A group of insurers providing supplemental benefits want a federal court to issue a judgment against the Biden administration’s rule restricting the sale of fixed indemnity insurance before the case can go to trial.

The motion for summary judgment filed Monday by the American Association of Ancillary Benefits and the third-party benefits administrator Premier Health Solutions argues the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas should “firmly establish the bounds of agency powers” on “short-term limited-duration” health insurance plans.
