Health Department Workers Face Fresh Layoffs, Reclassifications

The Department of Health and Human Services is letting go of more employees as part of previously scheduled reductions in force, a spokesperson confirmed, as the Trump administration continues to overhaul the federal workforce.

An HHS official told Bloomberg Law Friday the action reflects the finalization of previously announced RIFs, but did not provide details.

The department’s staff levels have seesawed under President Donald Trump, who previously enlisted Elon Musk to purge the federal workforce of what they claimed was unnecessary administrative bloat.
