Google Co-Founder Brin Backs Psychedelic Start-Up Soneira: FT

Google co-founder Sergey Brin is raising funds to back psychedelics startup Soneira, the Financial Times reports, citing unidentified people briefed on the discussions.

  • Catalyst4, a non-profit investment vehicle set up using the proceeds of Brin’s 2021 sale of his Tesla stake, will cover around $15m of a $25m funding round
    • Round set to close after summer
  • Soneira is launching clinical trials looking at the use of hallucinogen ibogaine as a treatment for traumatic brain injury
  • Soneira declined to comment to the FT; Catalyst4 did not respond
