Gilead Science’s donation of enough HIV prevention medication to cover 200,000 people for a maximum of 11 years frees the Trump administration to spend federal funds on more testing and education programs.
The deal is the latest effort to make good on President Donald Trump’s pledge to end the spread of HIV in the U.S. by 2030, and the administration has sought $291 million from Congress for those efforts.
