Georgia Pain Clinic to Pay $5 Million Medicare Fraud Settlement

Federal prosecutors and Ellis Pain Center in Georgia reached a settlement to end a suit alleging that the clinic billed Medicare for unnecessary urine drug testing and for tests never rendered.

Ellis Pain Center and its owners will pay $5 million to end the False Claims Act suit filed in 2019, according to the parties’ Thursday notice to the US District Court for the Middle District of Georgia.

The parties didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
