Former HIV Clinic Owner Pleads Guilty To $31 Million Medicare Fraud Scheme

The former owner of several HIV/AIDS clinics in New York City pleaded guilty to participating in a scheme that defrauded Medicare of $31 million through the submission of improper and medically unnecessary claims, according to a July 1 announcement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York (United States v. Huachilloguilty plea entered).

Oscar Huachillo pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit health-care fraud, which has a maximum prison term of 10 years, and one count of tax evasion, which has a maximum prison term of five years.
