Former Dancer Holds On to $10M Damages for Botched Hip Surgery

A former dancer left unable to use his right leg after a surgeon bungled an unnecessary hip surgery will recover nearly $10 million from the doctor’s former employer.

The Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District, Feb. 26 affirmed a judgment for Benny Bell, who returned to his native Missouri after a successful international career. The award includes $5 million in punitive damages against Orthopedic Associates of Southeast Missouri PC.
