Florida’s 2024 Ballot Gets Abortion, Recreational Pot Votes (2)

Florida’s Supreme Court ruled Monday that abortion rights and recreational pot proposals can go onto the November ballot, decisions that will shift the state’s political debate and influence voter turnout.

The justices rejected the state attorney general’s claim that the proposed ballot language would confuse voters, a defeat for Republicans from a court dominated by appointees of Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).

Yet, in the same afternoon, the justices issued a separate opinion upholding the state’s 15-week abortion ban and making way for a six-week ban to take hold.
