Florida Seeks Medicaid Funds to Boost Its Health-Care Workforce

Florida is seeking federal funding to expand and bolster its health-care workforce focused on treating poor and underserved communities.

The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration’s Section 1115(a) waiver application seeks federal Medicaid matching funds to add to the $1.4 billion the state will commit to programs for its health-care workforce, which serves the second-fastest growing state in the US with a high proportion of older adults and 4.7 million Medicaid enrollees.

The federal funding would help provide student loan repayment support for over 3,000 doctors, nurses, physician assistants, dentists, dental hygienists, and mental health practitioners who serve Medicaid recipients ...
