The government health agency granted Florida’s request to expand its Medicaid program to remove barriers to needed services to combat the new coronavirus.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on Tuesday approved Florida’s request to waive requirements that patients get authorization from their insurer before seeking treatment. Prior authorization requirements slow screening and servicing from health-care providers during the Covid-19 outbreak.
The waiver will also allow Florida to streamline provider enrollment processes to ensure access to care for beneficiaries and allow care to be provided in alternative settings in the event a facility is evacuated to an unlicensed facility. ...
