Florida Requires Parental Consent for Abortions Sought by Minors

Florida is now among a handful of states requiring physicians to both notify and gain the consent of parents before performing abortions on girls younger than 18.

Physicians who violate the law face a third-degree felony under the measure (S.B. 404) signed late Tuesday by Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), according to an announcement from his office.
