Five States Complete $22.5 Million Settlement, as Part of Larger DaVita Deal

The Medicaid programs of five states will split $22.5 million as part of a larger settlement resolving illegal kickback allegations against dialysis provider DaVita Healthcare Partners, according to announcements Jan. 5-7 by the state attorneys general for Colorado, Florida and Kentucky.

The deal follows a larger Oct. 22 settlement agreement in the same case, in which DaVita agreed to pay $389 million to resolve claims by the federal government (United States ex rel. Barbetta v. DaVita, Inc., D. Colo., No. 09-cv-2175, settlement) 206 DER A-18, 10/24/14, 18 HFRA 904, 10/29/14, 206 HCDR, 10/24/14.
