A former medical resident at New York’s Staten Island University Hospital failed with claims that she was wrongly denied accommodation from her employer’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate based on her Roman Catholic faith, pregnancy, and perceived disability, the Second Circuit said Friday.
The ruling affirming dismissal of the lawsuit saw the appeals court apply the US Supreme Court’s June 26 clarification of the standard for determining when an employer has shown that granting a religious accommodation to a worker would impose an undue hardship on its business.
