Fiat Chrysler Gets Court Approval for $600,000 COBRA Settlement

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles got early approval for a $600,000 class settlement resolving claims it sent legally deficient and “ominous” notices informing former workers of their right to stay on the company health plan, according to a Detroit federal court order.

The settlement is expected to provide net payments of about $10.40 to each of 29,798 former FCA US LLC employees who received COBRA notices but didn’t elect COBRA coverage. Class members will receive checks in the mail automatically unless they affirmatively opt out, according to the settlement motion.
