FedEx Subsidiary to Pay $2M in Controlled Substance Case

A FedEx Corp. subsidiary agreed to pay a $2 million civil penalty to settle a Justice Department investigation into the company’s handling of controlled substances.

The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin announced Aug. 23 its settlement agreement with Capital Returns Inc., doing business as Genco Pharmaceuticals Services, to resolve alleged Controlled Substance Act (CSA) violations. The company, renamed FedEx Supply Chain after FedEx Corp. acquired it in January 2015, specializes in destroying pharmaceutical returns and is authorized to receive and distribute controlled substances by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
