Federal Judge Orders FDA to Release More Covid Vaccine Records

The FDA must publicly disclose more information on its authorization of Pfizer-BioNTech’s Covid-19 vaccines, a federal judge ruled.

Judge Mark T. Pittman of the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas on Dec. 6 ordered the Food and Drug Administration to release information on its “emergency use authorization” for Pfizer Inc.'s Covid-19 vaccine after failing to persuade the court to dismiss a public information lawsuit.

A group of scientists and medical researchers sued the agency in 2021 under the Freedom of Information Act to release of hundreds of thousands of documents related to licensing of the vaccine.
