The goal of the Food and Drug Administration’s drug safety communications is to ensure the appropriate and safe use of medicines, speakers said Aug. 25 during an FDA media briefing.
“The goal of risk communications is to provide effective, balanced communications that foster an understanding of the risks and benefits of a drug to ensure continued appropriate and safe use,” Gregory D. Busse, editor in FDA’s Office of Communications, said.
Busse said the agency issues safety communications on the following:
- safety issues that affect a large number of patients due to widespread use of a drug;
