FDA, HHS to Host Meeting on Extended-Release Opioid Analgesic

The Food and Drug Administration and the Department of Health and Human Services will host a joint meeting of the Drug Safety and Risk Management Advisory Committee and the Anesthetic and Analgesic Drug Products Advisory Committee on Feb. 5,, according to a Federal Register notice.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss findings from postmarketing studies examining risks associated with long-term use of opioid analgesics for chronic pain management, including extended-release/long-acting opioid analgesics.

Public comments on the meeting will be accepted until Feb. 4.
