FDA Defeats Researcher’s SSRI Sexual Dysfunction Label Lawsuit

A researcher suing the US Food and Drug Administration to compel the agency to respond to a citizen petition about the labeling requirements for antidepressant medications doesn’t have standing to bring his suit, a federal judge said.

The complaint “is simply a generalized grievance about the operation of government,” Judge Amy Berman Jackson of the US District Court for the District of the District of Columbia said Monday.

Howard University epigenetics professor Antonei Csoka alleged the agency failed to address a 2018 citizen petition seeking revised labels for selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors that warn against sexual dysfunction.
