FDA Agreement With WebMD, Medscape Will Make FDA Health Data Available Online

The Food and Drug Administration July 12 released a memorandum of understanding defining how the agency will provide information to be used in health professional education and training programs conducted by online health data resources WebMD LLC and Medscape LLC.

According to a notice that appeared in the July 13 Federal Register (76 Fed. Reg. 41267), the memo of understanding also will promote the “timely dissemination” to health care professionals of accurate information on public health and emerging safety issues and product safety recalls. The agreement became effective June 8.
