Ex-JHL Execs Sentenced to Prison for Stealing Genentech Secrets

Two founders of Taiwan biopharmaceutical company JHL Biotech were sentenced to a year in prison for stealing trade secrets from Genentech Inc. and defrauding an investor out of $101 million.

Former chief executive officer Raco Ivanov Jordanov and former chief operating officer Rose Lin pleaded guilty to conspiring to steal trade secrets and wire fraud in August in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

The pair co-founded JHL in Taiwan, and from 2011 to 2019 used proprietary information misappropriated from Genentech to accelerate development of biosimilars and meet regulatory requirements, according to a Justice Department press ...
