EPA Approves Clean Up Plan at Houston-Area Superfund Site

The EPA has approved a plan to clean up a large toxic waste site on the outskirts of Houston, attaching tough conditions for the responsible parties to meet.

The decision, dated Sept. 9, appears to fulfill promises made by the Trump administration that it’s going to move quickly to hold polluters accountable at the nation’s Superfund sites.

The move pleases local activists, who have long clamored for action to be taken at the San Jacinto River Waste Pits site, which has languished on the Superfund list since 2008.
