Employers’ Mental Health Benefits Get Boost in Covid-19 Pandemic

Expanding access to mental health benefits is one of the top changes companies are making to their employee benefits in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

A survey of 136 large employers covering 8.9 million people in the U.S. released Wednesday by the Business Group on Health found that 62% of the employers have added new mental health benefits during the pandemic that are expected to stay in place.

Companies have stressed the importance of mental health benefits for employees for a number of years, but Covid-19 pushed many to move forward in expanding access.
