Emergency Abortion Complaints Get Faster Process in Biden Plan

Women denied emergency abortions can bring their complaints straight to the federal government via a new online option announced by the Biden administration Tuesday, marking the latest move in a back and forth with states over restrictions on reproductive services.

The new online option comes from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and is for people who believe they were denied emergency services for which they have a federal right under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act. EMTALA is playing a significant role in the fight between states and the federal government over abortion.
