Eli Lilly Shareholders Fend Off Abortion, Diversity Proposals (1)

Eli Lilly and Co. investors have rejected shareholder resolutions to report on the drugmaker’s abortion views, diversity, equity and inclusion efforts and other environmental, social and governance issues.

ESG-minded advocate As You Sow filed the DEI proposal, conservative investor National Center for Public Policy Research submitted the abortion resolution and various other shareholders offered plans to report on Lilly’s lobbying and political spending. None of them secured a majority of investor votes, according to preliminary results announced at Lilly’s annual meeting on Monday.

Lilly declined to comment. The company will release the final vote tallies at a later date.
