Elevance Again Challenges HHS Over Ratings of Its Medicare Plans

Elevance Health Inc. sued the HHS in a federal district court in Texas, claiming it could miss out on $375 million next year due to the department’s flawed calculations for a bonus program for Medicare managed care plans.

It’s the second time Elevance has sued the Department of Health and Human Services to challenge its “star ratings” under the Medicare Advantage Quality Bonus Program. The program rewards Medicare Advantage plans that earn at least four of a possible five stars on a list of quality measures.
