Drug, Device Companies Face Challenges With ‘Sunshine’ Disclosures, Experts Say

Drug and device companies will face many challenges when implementing the transparency provisions of the Physician Payments Sunshine Act, speakers said March 11 during a conference.

The Physician Payments Sunshine Act, which was enacted as part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, requires all drug and device companies to report payments made to physicians to the Department of Health and Human Services in March 2013. HHS will then make the information available to the public on a website starting Sept. 30, 2013.
