Doctors to Be Paid More for Home Dialysis, Kidney Transplants

More Medicare patients would get in-home dialysis treatments and better access to kidney transplants under five new incentive payment models announced July 10.

One of the models, dubbed the End-Stage Renal Disease Treatment Choices Model (ETC), would base payments to doctors and facilities on the number of Medicare beneficiaries who receive dialysis treatments at home rather than at a dialysis center. The payments would also increase if these Medicare patients receive kidney transplants.
