A Drexel University-trained physician will pay $95,000 to resolve allegations that he violated the False Claims Act, according to the Justice Department Monday.

From August 2018 to May 2020, Nishi Patel allegedly referred over 400 patients for medically unnecessary genetic tests paid for by Medicare.

He allegedly had no medical relationship with these patients and the referrals were either based on telemedicine consultations or no consultation at all, said the DOJ.
