A Texas doctor is urging a federal court to skip trial and rule in her favor in a lawsuit challenging the US Department of Health and Human Services’ reproductive health information privacy rule.
Carmen Purl, who brought the suit along with her medical practice, told the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas on Monday that the 2024 rule “is statutorily and constitutionally unlawful.” HHS, in a Monday brief opposing the summary judgment motion, said Purl lacks standing because the rule hasn’t harmed her or her practice.
