DME Supplier to Pay $1.8M to Settle Whistleblowers’ False Claims Lawsuit

TAMPA, Fla.—A Mississippi-based durable medical equipment supplier has agreed to pay nearly $1.8 million to settle a qui tam lawsuit alleging it billed the government for insulin pump kits and blood glucose test strips that were medically unnecessary, federal prosecutors said Sept. 5 (United States ex rel. Horne v. Pinnacle Medical Solutions LLC).

The settlement agreement concluded a lawsuit filed in 2009 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama by two former employees of Southaven, Miss.-based Pinnacle Medical Solutions LLC, U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance said in a statement.
