Nonprofit groups in Texas that help people get abortions in other states should be barred from suing state officials to stop them from prosecuting the groups under criminal laws recently revived by the US Supreme Court, Texas said in a filing urging a federal court to dismiss the case.
The groups, a volunteer support organization, and a Texas physician don’t have standing to bring the pre-enforcement challenge, as it’s entirely speculative as to whether state officials will take any legal action against them, Texas said.
