Democrats Pounce as Congress Allows Obamacare Premiums to Spike

The Republican-led Congress has left Washington for the year with no agreement to extend Obamacare subsidies, handing Democrats a potent political attack line heading into an election year focused squarely on affordability.

Health care premiums for more than 20 million Americans will, on average, more than double in 2026, which risks putting insurance out of reach for many voters already concerned about the costs of housing, groceries, utilities and other expenses.
