Delaware Health System Hits Aetna Health With Arbitration Suit

A health-care system that takes part in a federal drug discount program is suing Aetna Health Inc., alleging it disregarded arbitration after improperly reimbursing the health-care providers.

Christiana Care Health Services Inc. challenged the health insurance company Monday in the Court of Chancery of the State of Delaware alleging it ignored “its clear contractual obligation to submit this dispute to arbitration.”

“By its bad faith conduct, Aetna has forced ChristianaCare to incur significant and unnecessary expense simply to begin an arbitration process that would decide the dispute on the merits,” Christiana Care said in the complaint.
